Euphoria! Hats Off To The Champs!

At around 11:30 Saturday evening, the unthinkable happened. 

The New York Knicks ended a 53 year drought and won their first NBA Championship since 1973. 

Am I dreaming? 

It’s been a question I’ve asked myself multiple times over the past few days, despite the basketball brilliance we witnessed for the better part of the last 2 months. 

The Knicks put together one of the most dominant championship runs in NBA History. 

Consider this, they lost two of their first three playoff games in Round 1 against the Atlanta Hawks. 

After falling behind 2-1 in that series, the Knicks lost just ONE playoff game the rest of the way. 

They put together a 16-3 stretch that will live forever in New York and NBA History. 

Remember the 95/96 Bulls? Yeah, those guys. 

Michael Jordan back from retirement on a mission, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and yes, coached by Phil Jackson. 

All time team right? Greatest team of my lifetime? Absolutely. 

That team lost three playoff games on the road to Jordan’s fourth championship. 

Am I suggesting the Knicks are better than the 95/96 Bulls, no. Am I suggesting that this Knicks team keeps the elite all world NBA company, better believe it. 

The Knicks were the perfect team. five starters all buying into one goal and mission. 

It was a different hero almost every night throughout this magical run. 

Landry Shamet in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Mikal Bridges in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, OG Anunoby with an all time NBA play in Game 4 that will live forever in the minds and hearts of New Yorkers. 

Oh and how about Captain Brunson’s 45 points in a Finals close out game. 

The 2025-26 Knicks will be remembered forever in this town for many reasons. 

One thing that will always stand out to me is the fact that the Knicks found a way to bring this city together. 

Watch parties, big bar nights, Knicks hats and shirts being worn on a daily basis throughout the five boroughs. 

The Knicks managed to make a big city feel like a small college town and that is truly remarkable. 

We witnessed something on Saturday night that I’m still trying to process. 

I never thought I’d get the chance to see my team win an NBA Title. 

53 years in the making, long overdue. 

All of the pain of Charles Smith, game seven in Houston, Reggie Miller, PJ Brown and Michael Jordan erased…
