Three People Stabbed with Glass Bottles

On July 9, 2026, at approximately 4:59 a.m., officers from the Spring Valley Police Department responded to 29 South Main Street for a report of a male victim who was bleeding. Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a severe laceration to his right arm and significant blood loss as a result of an apparent assault. Officers immediately rendered  life-saving aid by applying a tourniquet to the victim’s injured arm until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to  Nyack Hospital for further treatment. 

Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation, which determined that the victim had been assaulted by an unknown male who  used a broken glass bottle to slash the victim’s arm.

gation, detectives identified the suspect as 18-year-old Bartolome  Garcia-Perez of Ramapo. Garcia-Perez was subsequently arrested and  charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a  Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and False Personation.

Garcia-Perez was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court  before the Honorable Judge Sweet. Bail was set at $5,000 cash, a $15,000  bail bond, or a $25,000 partially secured bond. Garcia-Perez was remanded  to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings. 

On July 12, 2026, the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the  intersection of Jay Street and Division Avenue following reports of a large  fight. 

Upon arrival, officers observed a large crowd fleeing the area and quickly  located two adult male victims who had been physically assaulted by a  large group. Both victims sustained severe stab wounds, one which  required a torniquet to be administered to control the bleeding. Officers  also located one suspect at the scene, later identified as 18-year-old Diego  Huerta of South Spring Valley. Detectives from the Spring Valley Police  Department, along with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of  Criminal Investigation, responded to the scene. 

An extensive investigation revealed that Huerta and several other unknown suspects physically assaulted one of the victims by striking the victim over the head with a glass bottle as well as using a sharp-edged weapon to stab the victim all which took place in front of the victim’s three young children and family members. 

Huerta was arrested and charged with Assault in the First Degree, Gang  Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon  in the Fourth Degree. Both victims were treated for their injuries and are  expected to make a full recovery. 

Huerta was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Brimais-Tenemille. Bail was set at $5,000 cash,  $10,000 bail bond, or a $15,000 partially secured bond. Huerta was  remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing. 

A Criminal Complaint is merely an accusation and the defendants are  presumed innocent until proven guilty.
