Spinks Goes Back to the Clink

While out on parole, tinted windows gave this Spring Valley man away

Keimoni Spinks, 27, of Spring Valley, New York, has been sentenced to state prison on August 12 in Rockland County Court before the Honorable Kevin F. Russo.

Spinks was convicted  once more on January 20, 2026, of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree following a five-day bench trial before Judge Kevin F. Russo. He was sentenced to nine years in state prison for the Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree count with five years of post-release supervision, and three and a half to seven years on the Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree count, these sentences are to run concurrently to each other.

On July 29, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a Ramapo police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for excessively tinted windows. Spinks, who was in the front passenger seat, fled from the vehicle on foot while the driver remained on scene.

Officers searched the  vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol inside a bag located on the floor of the front passenger side. The firearm was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, including one in the chamber.

Video surveillance captured Spinks fleeing from the vehicle and a Spring Valley police officer was able to identify Spinks who was on parole for a 2018 felony conviction in Orange County. Spinks received a six-year prison term on June 14, 2018, for the Orange County case and was released to parole on May 28, 2024. It would be only one month before Spinks would be caught in the aforementioned traffic stop.

After the foot chase, Spinks was apprehended at a hotel in Spring Valley and taken into custody. The bag that had contained the weapon was confirmed to be Spinks after his DNA was found on the bag.

The investigation was conducted by the Ramapo Police Department and the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County Sherrif’s Office, New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center.
