Fatal Crash on Route 202

On September 28th at approximately 10:35 a.m., the Ramapo PD responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 202 near Wilder Road in the Village of Wesley Hills.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a garbage truck and a sedan collided head-on. The driver of the sedan, a 38 year old woman from Suffern, was pronounced deceased on scene. A passenger in the sedan, a 37 year old Suffern resident, was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The garbage truck was being operated by a 38 year old Haverstraw resident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. The driver was screened for alcohol and drug involvement and showed no signs of impairment.

The incident and cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Town of Ramapo PD Crash Investigation Unit.
