Get Ready for the “Mobile-Menorah”

Chanukah car parade tradition continues; Streets will be jammed with cars on Sunday, December 9

About 70 “menorah-mobiles” – cars with menorahs mounted on top -will parade throughout Rockland County on Sunday, December 9, the second night of Chanukah. The festivities will begin at a Monsey synagogue at 5 p.m. with a crafts program for children, followed by lineup of cars for the Menorah parade at 6 pm. The parade culminates with a celebration from 7-8 p.m. at the Spring Valley Marketplace with a public menorah lighting, dancing, donuts, latkes and a moon bounce. All segments of the celebration are open to the public and free.

“The idea of the parade and menorah lighting is to share the joyous spirit of Chanukah, to unite the Jewish people and bring more light into the world,” said Baruch Simon, a rabbinical student who helped organize the project.

The festivities begin at Congregation Tzemach Tzedek, 2 Langeries Drive, corner of Route 306 in Monsey at 5 p.m.
