Dr. Mark Geller, who has served as Nyack Hospital’s interim CEO since December 2014, now has a permanent position at the helm of the health center.
Though the hospital’s Board of Trustees conducted a nationwide search for a qualified candidate, the body eventually concluded Geller, a 50-year Rockland resident and broadly popular administrator, was the best man for the job.
“During my several months as interim CEO, I have witnessed the strength and determination of an amazing team of professionals who continually rise to the challenges faced by health care providers,” Geller stated. “It is my honor to accept the role of leading this dedicated staff as we look to the future and continued service to our community.”
Geller, a radiology specialist with a medical degree from SUNY Downstate and a completed residency at New York Medical College, has been instrumental at a pivotal time in Nyack Hospital’s history. Chosen partly for his reputation as a quick-starter, Geller’s administration has worked to oversee Nyack’s new affiliation with Montefiore Medical Center, a partnership expected to make patient services more efficient and flexible.
