After undergoing a complete remodel, ShopRite of Northvale, celebrated its Grand re-opening on March 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcomed customers throughout the day with a variety of giveaways and food samplings. The redesigned store is opened and operated by the respected Inserra Supermarkets chain, which has 17 ShopRite stores in Bergen, Hudson and Passaic Counties in New Jersey and five ShopRite stores in Rockland County, New York.
At Sunday morning’s ceremony, members of the Inserra family and Ron Onorato, president and COO of Inserra Supermarkets, were joined by community dignitaries, including Mayor Ed Piehler; John Hogan, county clerk; Fran Weston, deputy clerk; Briant Bodrato, DPW superintendent; and Gregg Slater of Equity Associates.
“This is a special day for my family as we welcome community leaders and customers into our remodeled Northvale store,” said Lawrence Inserra, Jr., chairman and CEO of Inserra Supermarkets. “We have served the Northvale community for more than 40 years, and are thrilled to provide our customers with an expanded range of products and services. Thank you to our customers for your patience during the remodel and to our associates for all of your hard work.”
The redesigned store features an improved layout with wider aisles and a bright, natural look with reclaimed wood accents. Notable renovations include an expansive Produce Department with an array of natural and organic offerings, an updated Appy Department with salad and store-baked deli meats, a new “all natural” aisle with more than 1,000 linear feet of product offerings, a freshly-updated Dietitian’s Corner and an expanded Food Service Department with meals prepared by Inserra’s on-site chefs.
The store also underwent a technology and energy-efficiency upgrade, including the addition of self-checkout registers, high-efficiency refrigerated cases and LED lighting throughout the aisles. In addition, ShopRite from Home now has an exclusive entrance for in-store pickups. Guzzo and Guzzo Architects, Broden Design Group and DGC Capital Construction handled the remodel efforts.
“I would like to personally thank Larry and all of the Inserra family for their commitment to Northvale,” said Mayor Piehler. “They have long been a part of the fabric of this community and will be for many years to come.”
Inserra celebrated a grand reopening of its Tallman store in Rockland County last year.
Along with revamping its branches, Inserra Supermarkets has been increasing its in-store registered dietitian program. Northvale’s Jenna Amos, R.D. is one of 15 in-store dietitians at Inserra ShopRites.
Inserra Supermarkets’ wellness effort is also aided by ShopRite of Northvale’s Pharmacy under the direction of Lou Musto, R.Ph., pharmacist in charge.
ShopRite of Northvale’s management team includes Peter Cavo, district director, and Gregg Soriano, store manager, as well as Peter Sagri and Andys Ortiz, assistant store managers.
