Stony Point Police respond to house call, discover two adults DOA

At approximately 1:57PM, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Stony Point Police Dept responded to 54 Rosetown Road after receiving a call from a male party, advising that “his friends shot themselves”. Officers responded to 54 Rosetown Road and located 2 victims, one male and one female, deceased in an upstairs bedroom, from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as Sean Kelly, a 38 year old male, and Colleen Williston, a 35 year old female, who both resided at the residence. The initial investigation conducted by Stony Point Police Detectives, with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriffs BCI Unit and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, indicates that the two deceased individuals were the victims of a murder-suicide. Although we are still early in the investigation, the evidence indicates that Mr. Kelly shot Ms. Williston and then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life. As the investigation continues, our detectives will be looking into what the motive for the shooting may have been, and if it was related to an earlier complaint. On Saturday, March 16, Mr. Kelly reported a complaint to our department in the early morning hours, involving Ms. Williston and their 2 minor children.

This investigation led to a notification being made to Rockland County Child Protective Services and the investigation was still ongoing at the time of the shooting. The children were not in the residence or in the custody of Mr. Kelly and Ms. Williston at the time of the shooting. This investigation is still ongoing.
