CARDINAL EGAN TO VISIT NORTH ROCKLAND PARISH

St. Gregory Barbarigo Celebrating 50th anniversary

Cardinal Edward Egan, Archbishop Emeritus of New York, will officiate a special commemorative Mass on Sunday, January 15 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church to kick off the parishโ€™s 50th anniversary celebration.

โ€œSince coming to St. Gregoryโ€™s last year, Iโ€™ve been touched by the wonderful history of our parish and school,โ€ said Rev. Joseph LaMorte, the pastor of the parish. โ€œWith the help of Jesus Christ, weโ€™ve built a remarkable Catholic community that has continued to grow, evolve and prosper for five decades. St. Gregoryโ€™s is truly an extraordinary place and a great source of pride for our parishioners. We are very excited about our Jubilee celebration.โ€

Sundayโ€™s Mass is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. One of the most exciting events of the 18-month Jubilee celebration will be the Jubilee Banquet on Saturday, March 3 at the Colonial Inn in Norwood, N.J. At the banquet, the parish will recognize pastors and school principals who have served the parish for the last 50 years. Cardinal-elect Timothy M. Dolan of New York is expected to visit St. Gregoryโ€™s in 2013 to culminate the Jubilee celebration. St. Gregoryโ€™s is the fourth largest parish in Rockland County with more than 2,500 families and its school is the countyโ€™s biggest with nearly 300 students.
