Free singing contest auditions open to persons with intellectual disabilities on Saturday, Feb. 18, at ARC in Congers
ARC of Rockland is proudly sponsoring its 9th Annual “American Ideal” singing competition for persons with intellectual disabilities, ages 12 and older. A free open audition is Saturday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the cafeteria at ARC of Rockland headquarters, 25 Hemlock Drive in Congers, N.Y.
“American Ideal” judges will select from the open audition the top three to five singers in three age categories: Teen (12 – 19); 20-something (20 – 29), and Adult (30 years and older), who will sing in the finals on Friday, March 30. ARC will coordinate with the finalists practice sessions on various nights throughout March, to ready the contestants for the final “American Ideal” competition.
No entry fee is required but contestants must register in advance by calling Mary Ellen McCosker at ARC of Rockland, 845.267.2500, ext. 3175. All contestants will be provided in advance an estimated performance time slot and must bring their own music/song accompaniment (tape or CD) to the Feb. 18 audition.
American Ideal is open to persons being served by all agencies including ARC, Jawonio, Camp Venture, Saint Dominic’s Home, YAI and others, as well as to students with intellectual disabilities attending BOCES and area schools in and outside Rockland County.
