DA REPORT:
James Burch aka James Houston, age 17, residing at 97 Gurnee Avenue, Haverstraw, Ryan Burch aka Ryan Houston, age 15, residing at 97 Gurnee Avenue, Haverstraw, Anthony Adolino, age 21, 97 Gurnee Avenue, Haverstraw, and Tyniesha White, age 27, residing at 256 Westside Avenue, Haverstraw were indicted on January 30, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Assault in the 1st Degree (2 counts), Gang Assault in the 1st Degree, Burglary in the 1st Degree (2 counts) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 22, 2011, the defendants went to 14 Benson Street, West Haverstraw. The defendants went into the home where the victim was immediately attacked with punches and kicks about the head and body. The defendants threw boiling water on the victim as they continued to beat him. A glass pot was smashed over the victim’s head and ripped open his hand. The victim suffered multiple contusions and lacerations to his head requiring multiple stitches to close. In addition, the victim suffered second-degree burns on his back. The victim also required surgery to his hand and still does not have full use there of.
Felix Lema-Curio aka Jorge Shini, age 47, residing at 105 New Main Street, Haverstraw, was indicted on February 1, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Promoting Prostitution in the 3rd Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about and during January, 2012, the defendant operated a prostitution house located at 22 Prospect Street, Spring Valley. He solicited prostitutes and managed, supervised and operated the house of prostitution where men would pay money to them in exchange for sexual acts by the prostitutes therein.
Ralph Rempart, age 23, residing at 70 Twin Avenue, Spring Valley, was indicted on January 30, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about August 9, 2011, defendant was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway of 70 Twin Avenue, Spring Valley. While the officer spoke with defendant regarding an investigation, police observed a stun gun next to defendant’s leg. The defendant was asked to step out of the vehicle and police recovered a stun gun from the floor of the vehicle from where the defendant was seated. The detectives tested the stun gun and found it to be operable.
Robert J. Robinson, Jr., age 42, residing at 48 Pine Street, Apt. 1 Kingston, was indicted on January 30, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about October 20, 2011 at approximately 11:45 p.m., the defendant was driving a vehicle on the NYS Thruway in the Town of Clarkstown when the his vehicle was stopped for vehicle and traffic violations. After a search of the vehicle, the defendant was found to be in possession of approximately two pounds of marijuana.
Brent Reid, age 52, residing at 875 Boynton Avenue, Bronx, and Arthur Richardson, age 51, residing at 7 Oval Metropolitan Avenue, Bronx, were indicted on February 1, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about January 17, 2012, Brent Reid stole numerous Coach handbags valued at over $2,000 from Lord & Taylor. He placed the bags in the back of a vehicle, waiting in a nearby fire zone outside the store with the engine running, being driven by Arthur Richardson. Upon the police stop of the vehicle, all the proceeds were recovered from the back of the vehicle.
Curtis Wilson, age 52, of the Rockland Psychiatric Center, 140 Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg, was indicted on February 1, 2012 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about January 16, 2012 at approximately 5:16 p.m., on the premises of Rockland Psychiatric Center, the defendant struck the victim repeatedly in the head with a two-foot long metal object. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:01 p.m.
STONY POINT POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Daniel J. Amitrani, age 24, residing at 244 North Liberty Drive, Tomkins Cove, was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Failing to Surrender a Suspended NYS license, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. The defendant was arrested after being stopped for a vehicle and traffic offense and a NYS DMV inquiry that determined defendant was operating a motor vehicle while his privilege to operate a motor vehicle in NYS was suspended. The defendant was processed and released after being issued numerous traffic tickets. Defendant is to reappear on March 1, 2012 at 9 a.m. in the Stony Point Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Frank Phillips to answer said charges.
Saffie Dibba, age 36, residing at 821 E. 218th Street, Bronx, was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop and NYSPIN inquiry determined she was operating a motor vehicle while her license was suspended. The defendant was arrested, processed, and released on several traffic summonses returnable March 1, 2012 at 9 a.m.
Robert Hernandez, age 25, residing at 16 Rockland Street, Haverstraw, NY, was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree following an investigation where the defendant punched a hole in a wall while at a house party and before fleeing the location, the defendant did strike another in the head. The defendant was located a short distance from the scene of the incident. The Town of Stony Point Police Department was assisted by the Haverstraw Town Police Department K-9 Unit. The defendant was arrested, processed, and released on an appearance ticket returnable on February 9, 2012 at 9 a.m. after posting $2,000 bail.
Ereidis Pena, age 19, residing at 3 East Main Street, Stony Point, NY, was arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree following a warrant investigation. The defendant did have an active Arrest Warrant out of the Town of Haverstraw for the listed charge. The defendant was located at his residence where the defendant resisted the lawful arrest and struggle ensued. The defendant was taken into custody and turned over to the Town of Haverstraw Police Department to answer said charge. The defendant will also be charged in the Town of Stony Point with Assault 2nd and Resisting Arrest as a result of one of the arresting officers suffering a minor injury during the arrest.
Christopher S. Sergeant, age 19, residing at 105 Clove Avenue, Haverstraw, NY, Stephen M. Gonzalez, residing at 105 Clove Avenue, Haverstraw, NY, and an unnamed male, age 17, residence known, were arrested following an investigation where it is alleged the defendants approached several juvenile males on Highridge Road in the Town of Stony Point and demanded their cash, which was turned over to them. The defendants fled the scene and were located a short time later with the assistance of the Town of Haverstraw Police Department. The defendants were arrested, processed, and arraigned before the Honorable Frank Phillips. All defendants were remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail. They are due in the Stony Point Justice Court on February 9, 2012 at 9 a.m.
Jesse C. Weyant, age 39, residing at 11 Hidden Valley Drive, Airmont, was arrested for DWI, reckless driving, and numerous vehicle and traffic infractions. Stony Point Police arrested the defendant after an accident investigation determined that the defendant was operating an unregistered ATV in a reckless manner on Blanchard Road while in an intoxicated condition. The defendant suffered serious injuries and was transported to Nyack Hospital. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on numerous traffic tickets returnable March 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. before the Honorable William F. Franks.
Lissette Wise, age 31, residing at 143 Broadway, Haverstraw, was arrested for Operating with a Suspended Registration and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. The defendant was arrested after being stopped for a vehicle and traffic offense and NYS DMV inquiry that determined that the vehicle registration was suspended for insurance not in effect. The defendant was processed and released after being issued numerous traffic tickets. The defendant is to reappear on February 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Stony Point Justice Court.
An unnamed male, age 18, residence unknown, was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. The defendant was arrested following an ongoing theft and vandalism investigation in the Town of Stony Point. This investigation had led to previous arrests for outstanding cases of criminal mischief’s that had plagued the Town of Stony Point at the end of 2011. The defendant was arrested, processed, and released on an appearance ticket returnable on February 14, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
