First Annual Taste of North Rockland Event is a Success

Second place finishers Babe's Bar and Grill

The championship winning North Rockland Midget Football program held a first of its kind of “Taste of North Rockland” event this weekend as a fundraiser and a celebration of its seasons. Hundreds of supporters gathered at the Elks Lodge in Haverstraw and tasted fare from some of North Rockland’s most popular restaurants, while also enjoying underpriced booze.

In the end Gilligan’s won first place in the taste-off, Babe’s Bar and Grill won second, and Publik House won third.

North Rockland Midget Football VP Dave Garrison said he’d like to send a big thank you to Kevin Reilly, Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, Julio Alonso, house chairman, all the participating presenters, and Ann Marie Curley and Mari Rodriguez, organizers of the event.

Perhaps the most memorable part of the evening was when Garrison announced that a portion of the funds would go to benefit Gabrielle Di Carlo, a young cheerleader recently diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer. The community is rallying to help Gabrielle, here is a link to the site set up in her honor www.support4gabrielle.com.
