Driver Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Henry Clayton, Age 45, of Boiceville, New York, was sentenced on March 20, 2012, before New York State County Court Justice William K. Nelson to a state prison term of 3 years and 5 years post release supervision after pleading guilty to Assault in the Second Degree

District Attorney, Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about March 24, 2011, after failing to pay a toll in Yonkers, NY, the defendant failed to pull over when directed to do so by the New York State Police, and led police on a dangerous chase across the Tappan Zee Bridge, ending in Clarkstown, NY. During the pursuit, the defendant repeatedly ran his car into the rear of a New York State Police vehicle, causing injury to the trooper driving the vehicle, and damage to the vehicle. The defendant also backed his car into the front of another police vehicle causing damage. The defendant refused to be handcuffed, and fought with the troopers. A check of defendant’s driver privileges revealed more than ten suspensions on ten separate dates.
