First Ever Palisades Fair Opens June 21 – July 4

14 big days of family fun in the parking lots of West Nyack mall

The Pyramid Mall/Palisades Center in West Nyack, NY will play host to Rockland County’s newest family entertainment event, the Palisades Fair, June 21 – July 4. The fair will feature spectacular shows free with admission, State Fair amusement rides, delicious fair foods and exciting games, all close to home.

“We saw the need to bring a county fair-type event to Rockland County,” said Brian Schuman, the fair’s organizer. “My kids grew up attending these types of events and without a true county fair in Westchester, Bergen or Rockland Counties anymore, we thought the Palisades Center would be the perfect place to host this type of event to bring the county fair right into our own backyards,” added Schuman.

The Palisades Fair will be more than your typical local carnival. There will be top entertainment from around the country offered free with admission. Mike Sandlofer, animal rescuer and conservationist, who is known for his whale rescue efforts, is bringing the world’s only traveling wolf show to the Palisades Fair.

“These animals have all been rescued and brought to me to rehabilitate,” said Sandlofer. “The wolf is one of nature’s most inspiring creations and we will educate and amaze fair guests with these beautiful animals.”

Recently, wolf pups were born on the show and they will also be on display at the fair. Lance Gifford will also be making an appearance at the fair, beginning June 26, with his world-class magic and illusion show. The Vegas-style attraction has been electrifying crowds across the country with incredible illusions presented on a customized, hydraulic stage.

Also on the fairgrounds, the Frontier Circus will educate and amaze children of all ages.

No visit to the fair would be complete without a petting zoo; the Palisades Fair has one of the largest in the area. Where else can you see a camel, Texas longhorn, donkeys, horses, oxen and goats? You can feed many of the animals or even take a ride on one of the fair’s camels or ponies.

For the younger set, the Old West Dog and Pony Show tell the delightful story of sheriffs and villains in the Old West through the antics of a costumed coyote and real-live trained dogs.

On the midway, direct from the State Fair of New York, the James E. Strates Shows will be bringing a large assortment of state fair rides including the Giant Wheel, Wave Swinger, Fireball and Super Loops. Wristbands for unlimited pay-one-price tickets are available at a steep discount through June 20 on the fair’s website at www.palisadesfair.com. The Palisades Fair, hosted by Palisades Center, 1000 Palisades Center Drive, West Nyack, NY will open Thursday, June 21 and run through Wednesday, July 4. The fair opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends. Admission is only $5, but 2-for-1 admission coupons, along with other valuable discounts and important fair information are available.
