RIP Richard Stolz

Dear Editor,

It is with a heavy heart that I inform our community of the passing of an American shadow warrior; Richard Stoltz, former Deputy Director, Covert Operations, Central Intelligence Agency. Mr. Stolz was a mentor, friend and colleague, who was generous with his time and instruction to me over the course of our association. I first met Mr. Stolz when I was assigned to accompany his delegation overseas. I had one of the rare privileges to watch a master negotiator at work from a front row seat. I learned many things from Mr. Stolz. Among them the value of quiet resistance in the face of overwhelming adversity. I am thankful his friendship and public expression of trust. He will be sorely missed. I will attend the gravesite ceremony Thursday, June 14.

Anthony Mele
RCT Columnist, political candidate

Editor’s note— During Anthony Mele’s campaign for Congress in 2010 the RCT editorial board spoke with Mr. Stolz to confirm his endorsement of Mr. Mele for Congress and we too would like to send our condolences on the loss of a truly impressive man, the former CIA “Head of Spies.”
