Johanna Brozinsky of New City, a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, was honored with a Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence from the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence was created by SUNY to recognize students who have best demonstrated and been recognized for the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, and/or career achievement.

“I have never seen more curious, alive, passionate, and motivated students than the students at FIT and Johanna Brozinsky is truly outstanding among them,” said Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of FIT.

Brozinsky, who was both a Baker Scholar and a Presidential Scholar, maintained a GPA of 3.8 and was the recipient of the Jodi Tilton Scholarship for participating in a Study Abroad internship in London. She served as vice president of the FIT Student Association, president of the Residence Hall Community Council, treasurer for Collegiate DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), and served as a resident assistant. In addition to taking part in community service activities with the Presidential Scholars, Brozinsky coordinated a Thanksgiving canned food drive held in the residence halls that collected over 150 pounds of canned goods.
