Nyack Water Restored, Boil Advisory in Effect Until Thursday

All Nyack-area residents are being advised to boil the water before using it. This may last until Thursday, August 16.

Nyack Water Company restored services to all residents by Sunday morning after a water main in West Nyack broke on Saturday, August 11.

Crews worked through the night in order to restore water service to the 15,000 customers. Most of the service was back by 4 a.m. on Sunday.

The Rockland Department of Health started testing the local water for harmful microbes on Monday, August 13. Each test require 24-48 hours to work and multiple tests are required.

Boil water before using it for drinking, washing food, doing dishes or brushing teeth. It is not necessary to boil water for quickly showering or washing clothing.

Some may continue to experience low water pressure or discolored water.
