After almost a week, local water authorities officially lifted the boil water advisory in Nyack today.
A water main break in West Nyack on Saturday caused many residents and businesses in the area to lose water service for about a day. But Sunday, the water pipes were fixed and service was restored.
However, the Rockland County Department of Health found harmful microbes in the water supply and they needed to do more testing before allowing locals to drink tap water again.
Customers throughout the Nyacks receive water from the same company, Nyack Water Company, and were all affected by the advisory. All were urged to boil the tap water before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, doing wishes, feeding pets, etc.
Residents were notified about the water situation through NY Alert Service and local officials encourage those who are not already signed up to do so as soon as possible.
