Jonathan Barillas, 16, was arrested in Nyack on Wednesday, August 22 on arson charges. Early Tuesday, August 21 four cars were set on fire and there was another fire over the past weekend, according to police.
Barillas has been charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, a class D felony; one count of second-degree arson, a class B felony; five counts of third-degree arson, a class C felony; and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.
In addition to the fires, Barillas is accused of burglarizing a building on Catherine Street twice earlier in August and then setting it on fire on August 19.
No one was injured in the fires, but there was damage to homes and cars.
Barillas is being held on $50,000 bail pending a hearing at Nyack Village Court.
