Helmer to be honored
NYACK– The Rockland County YMCA will be honoring William F. Helmer at its Night of MAGIC on Thursday, November 29 at the Nyack Seaport.
William F. Helmer is president of the Helmer Cronin Construction, Inc. in Stony Point and resides in Nyack with his wife Sandy. He is currently the chairman of the Board of Provident Bank Corp. and a member of the Board of Trustees at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He also serves as the honorary chair of the YMCA Capital Campaign for Children and Families.
“Mr. Helmer has made a very positive impact on our community as a business leader, philanthropist and YMCA volunteer. We appreciate his generous support and service to benefit so many children in our community,” said Chuck Maze, CEO.
The Rockland Boulders will receive the Community Service Award for organizing a professional baseball team for youth and families to enjoy here in Rockland County. They conducted 300 fundraisers to benefit more than 300 organizations and community groups. Thousands of children from Rockland Day Camps including the YMCA’s Summer Programs have enjoyed a day at Provident Bank Park thanks to the Rockland.
The Town of Ramapo is the recipient of the Service to Youth Award for providing excellent recreation programs for the children of many communities. The Joseph T. St. Lawrence Community, Health and Sports Center is a model for communities throughout New York State. Many community organizations, including the YMCA, have benefited from their facilities and programs.
The YMCA serves more than 4,000 members and program participants throughout Rockland County. Proceeds from the Night of MAGIC will benefit many YMCA programs including: Teen Programs, Youth and Government, Early Childhood Centers, After School Programs, Summer Day Camp and will provide youth scholarships.
Our 2012 Night of MAGIC will be at the Nyack Seaport November 29 from 6 to 11 p.m. The program will include a reception, dinner, dancing and a live auction. Tickets may be purchased for $125 per person or $200 per couple.
