FEMA REPRESENTATIVES NO LONGER STATIONED AT COUNTY FIRE TRAINING CENTER

Those Seeking “Sandy” Assistance Can Still Receive Help By Phone

FEMA has announced that it will no longer be stationing representatives at the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona to assist residents. Residents can may still apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

In addition to individual assistance grants from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) is still making low interest loans available for homeowners, small businesses and most private non-profit organizations. To apply for SBA loans, first register with FEMA at the website or numbers listed above, then visit https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela or call 1-800-659-2955. The interest rates for SBA loans for homeowners are as low as 1.688 percent with loan repayment terms of up to 30 years. Non-profit and business interest rates start at 3 percent and 4 percent respectively.
