STONY POINT & RAMAPO POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIMES 2/9/13

STONY POINT POLICE DEPARTMENT:

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
Kiara Jaquemarte, age 20, residing at 64 Bridge St., Apt. 1, Garnerville, NY, was arrested on February 5, 2013 for criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and grand larceny, both class E felonies to make numerous purchases without the ownerโ€™s permission or consent. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable March 5, 2013 at 9 a.m.

BURGLARY, CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY & PETIT LARCENY

Michael D. Poulard, age 23, residing at 250 5th Ave., Nyack, NY, was arrested on February 5, 2013 for burglary in the second degree, a class C felony, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, a class A misdemeanor, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. The defendant was arrested after an investigation into several burglaries that occurred in the Tomkins Cove area of the Town of Stony Point during November 2012. Investigation determined the defendant (and previously arrested co-defendant William Sanchez) did forcibly enter a residence on November 3, 2012 and remove property from within without permission or authority. The defendant was arrested, processed and arraigned before the Honorable William F. Franks and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is due back in the Stony Point Justice Court on February 11, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

ISSUING A BAD CHECK, CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY & PETIT LARCENY

Elaina J. Jastrow, age 30, residing at 43 Greywood Dr., Orangeburg, NY, was arrested on February 5, 2013 for issuing a bad check, 6 counts, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, 2 counts, and petit larceny, 2 counts. The defendant was arrested after an investigation revealed the defendant did deposit several checks into an account and cash same knowing her account did not have sufficient funds available. The defendant did steal in excess of $1,400 dollars throughout Rockland and Westchester counties. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable March 5, 2013 at 9 a.m.

PETIT LARCENY & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
Stacy Biroc, age 39, residing at 1218 Round Point Dr., Haverstraw, NY, was arrested on February 7, 2013 for petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. The defendant was arrested after an investigation into a shoplifting complaint at the ShopRite of Stony Point determined she did remove numerous items from said location without paying for same. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable March 7, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

PETIT LARCENY & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
Sharri Ann Despress, age 52, resiidn gat 1122 Sackett Lake Rd., Forestburg, NY, was arrested on February 7, 2013 for petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. The defendant was arrested after an investigation into a theft from a local elderly victim who aided the defendant after Hurricane Sandy by providing shelter to her after she had lost power. The defendant did steal several blank checks from the victim and cash them without permission or authority. The defendant will face additional charges in Liberty, NY as a result of this investigation. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable March 7, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA & AUO
Justin Ortiz, age 25, residing at 55 Franck Rd., Stony Point, NY, was arrested on February 6, 2013 for criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree. The defendant was arrested after officers responded to a domestic dispute and discovered that the defendant did have an active arrest warrant for listed charges out of the Town of Haverstraw. The defendant was arrested, processed and turned over to the Town of Haverstraw Police Department to face said charges in their jurisdiction.

AUO & OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
Azuka B. Tuke, age 35, residing at 193 Wayne Ave. Stony Point, NY, was arrested on February 6, 2013 for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third and operating with a suspended registration. The defendant was arrested after warrant investigation revealed he had an active bench warrant out of the Town of Stony Point Justice Court for said charges. The defendant was arrested, processed, and released on an appearance ticket returnable February 14, 2013 after posting $250 bail. The defendant was then turned over to the Rockland County District Attorneyโ€™s Office to face charges on a separate matter under investigation.

DWI & OTHER VEHICLE & TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
Paulino Hilario, age 30, residing at 333 Richard Ct., Pomona, NY, was arrested on February 3, 2013 for DWI and several other vehicle and traffic violations after officers responded to a complaint of an erratic driver and upon stopping said defendant determined he was operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition, The defendant was arrested, processed and released on numerous traffic tickets returnable February 21, 2013 after posting $240 cash bail.

PETIT LARCENY, AUO & CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
Roy Castelonia, age 41, residing at 45 Budget Motor Inn., Stony Point, NY, was arrested on February 1, 2013 for petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. The defendant was arrested after an investigation into a shoplifting complaint at the ShopRite of Stony Point determined he did remove numerous items from said location without paying for same. The defendant was arrested subsequent to a vehicle and traffic stop where it was determined that he was operating a motor vehicle while his NYS DLIC was suspended. The defendant was arrested, processed and remanded to the Rockland County correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 bail. He was due back in court on February 7, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

RAMAPO POLICE DEPARTMENT:

DWI & OTHER DRIVING CRIMES
On Wednesday February 6, 2013 at approximately 5:15 pm, Ramapo Police received a report of an erratic driver, operating a black BMW, northbound on Route 17 in the Village of Sloatsburg. A Ramapo Police officer observed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.ย  The vehicle operator, John Sorrentino, age 63, of Greenwood Lake NY was arrested for DWI (VTL 1192-3), a misdemeanor, Operating a Motor Vehicle while impaired by drugs,(VTL 1192-4) a misdemeanor, Driving While Ability Impaired due to a combination of Drugs/Alcohol (VTL 1192-4a), a misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree (PL Section 220.06-5, a Class D Felony.ย  The defendant was found with a quantity of cocaine in his possession. Ramapo Police were assisted by Clarkstown Police Departmentโ€™s D.R.E. (Drug Recognition Expert).ย ย  A D.R.E. is an officer certified in detecting when a motorist is under the influence of drugs. The defendant was arraigned before Judge Newman of the Village of Sloatsburg Court.ย  He was released after posting $1,500 cash bail.ย  He was directed to appear in the Village of Sloatsburg Court on February 7, 2013 at 5 p.m.

DWI
The Town of Ramapo Police Department, in conjunction with Rockland County Police Agencies, participated in a Stop-DWI Crackdown conducted from February 1st -4th. On February 1, Ramapo Police arrested 20-year-old Gorme Venicio Mojica of Nanuet, NY for DWI-Drugs/1192.4. Additional โ€˜Crackdownโ€™ details will be conducted throughout the year.
