The Rockland County Disaster Recovery Workshop at Stony Point, which FEMA had to cancel last week due to the snow, will be held this Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16.
The workshops will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and are free and open to the public. They will take place at the school at Immaculate Conception Church, 26 John St., Stony Point.
FEMA describes the workshop as, “An opportunity for people to get their disaster assistance and recovery questions answered one-on-one, face-to-face. This couldn’t come soon enough as over a dozen North Rocklanders are still homeless due to Hurricane Sandy and many have commented on a lack of communication from the government at all levels regarding what is expected for them, so they can move on with their lives.
The deadline for Sandy survivors to register with FEMA is February 27. Applicants can call 800-621-3362 (TTY 800-462-7585). Another way to register is to go online at www.disasterassistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet at m.fema.gov.
