Rock n’ Soul Singer Christine Ohlman and her band Rebel Montez Booked at Turning Point Cafe, Piermont February 23

BY GEORGE J. DACRE

Christine has been here before and loves the venue and says she is really looking forward to Saturday’s show at the popular Piermont cafe. Born in the Bronx and now residing in New York and Connecticut, Ohlman started out in show business playing with bands that included her brother around New Haven and has progressed to become longtime vocalist with NBC’s Saturday Night Live band.

Descrbing herself as the flashy, gritty platinum blonde “Beehive Queen,” Ohlman will spotight songs from her six CDs including “The Deep End” of which Rolling Stone editor emeritus Dave Marsh said, “There are so many wow moments” and esteemed journalist Peter Guralnick wrote “Tough, tender, thoughtful and sassy; REAL as Sam Phillips was wont to say.”

All Music guide has labeled Ohlman “The number one secret weapon in America’s gal singing sweepstakes.” She will be joined on stage at the Turning Point by Massachusetts guitar legend Cliff Goodwin, Larry Donahue, drums, and Michael Colbath, bass. Ohlman’s credits include the theme song for NBC’s 30 Rock. Tickets at the Turning Point Cafe.
