COUNTY URGES RESIDENTS TO GIVE BLOOD DURING SHORTAGE

The County of Rockland announces that due to recent winter storms, the New York Blood Center was forced to cancel several blood drives in the area and in other cases donors were unable to make scheduled appointments which has severely affected the blood supply. “We urge residents, who are able to do so, to donate blood in their area,” said Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef. “The county continues to hold blood drives several times a year to help with the supply.”

The County of Rockland will hold its next blood drive on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center, Building A, Exhibition Hall in Pomona beginning at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. To make an appointment, please contact Mary Russo at 845-364-2017 or by e-mail at [email protected]. All blood drives are open to the public. For more information on blood drives or to donate, please call 1-800-933-2566 or visit www.nybloodcenter.org.
