The Rockland Bouders, who open the 2013 season May 16 at Provident Ball Park in Pomona against the Newark Bears, have acquired outfielder Jerod Edmondsen from the CanAm League’s Newark Bears. In exchange the Bears receive pitcher Dan Jurik and a player to be named later. Edmondsen is a veteran of six years action in the CanAm League, most recently with the Worchester Tornadoes, appearing in all 100 games with them in 2012.
In 504 career games, Edmondsen has a .285 batting aveage with 57 home runs, 259 RBI and 95 stolen bases. Edmondsen will be reunited with Boulders new manager Jamie Keefe whom he played for in Pittsfield in the 2011 season, batting .315 with 17 homers and 23 stolen bases. Keefe has said he intends to have an aggressive ball club stealing bases and scoring runs.
