Press Notice from Clarkstown PD
According to police on Saturday, March 16 at approximately 10:15 a.m. the Clarkstown Police responded to 225 S. Middletown Rd, Nanuet for a report of a hit and run personal injury accident.
Ryan Barron, 19, from Nanuet was operating a 1998 Ford and was driving through the parking lot of the Wald Pavillion, 225 S. Middletown Rd, Nanuet. Barron struck a parked car, a 2009 Ford, pushing said vehicle into an adjacent parking space which in turn struck another parked vehicle, a 1996 Honda and a male pedestrian who was standing between the two vehicles. Barron then left the scene and drove to the Nanuet train station where he boarded a southbound train. A witness who observed the incident followed Barron and then contacted police.
New Jersey Transit was contacted and the train was stopped at the Montvale, NJ train station. The train doors were secured and investigating officers boarded the train. Barron was identified and removed from the train without incident.
Barron had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and was administered a preliminary breath screening device which was positive for the presence of alcohol. Barron was placed under arrest and subsequently transported to the Clarkstown Police Headquarters. He provided a blood sample to determine his blood alcohol concentration, results are pending.
Barron is currently awaiting arraignment in Clarkstown Justice Court. He is being charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving while intoxicated, assault 3rd, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment, all misdemeanors.
The pedestrian, 59, from Pearl River, sustained physical injuries to his face and body and was transported to Nyack Hospital where he was is currently still be treated.
