Parents of children at St. Gregory Barbarigo School in Garnerville received horrible news this Easter Sunday, as a notice was sent out by the Health Dept. that a student there has perished due to bacterial meningitis.
Details are scant as to how the school will proceed at this point. The student’s name has not been released yet.
The Health Dept. notice said that if any child from the district was feeling ill, they should go to the emergency room. Further instructions will be given to parents Monday. School is out for spring break this week.
[Note – the school has yet to confirm this information and a respondent at the school’s office refused to comment. We have received the information from parents who received the notice. Correction – the original version of this article said the school had sent the notice to parents. It was the Health Dept. Update – according to the Iris Alert sent to parents the meningitis is bacterial]
