CLEARVIEW SOLD TO BOW TIE CINEMA OF CONNECTICUT

BY ALAN McGEORGE

Cablevision has divested itself of its Clearview chain of cinemas, 41 theatres in all, including one in New City.

The last “little” multiplex in Rockland will now be run by Connecticut-based Bow Tie Cinemas, which has been in business for over 100 years. Bow Tie told the media it wants to upgrade the Clearview chain, installing digital, 3D, improved concession and other items.

The Palisades Center Mall Loews Cinema had run all other multiplexes in Rockland out of business, however, with the advent of a theatre at the Shops at Nanuet, there will now be three multiplexes as well as the single-screen Lafayette Theatre in Suffern.
