Roc Runna Show Brings Hip Hop Variety to Rockland

BY ERIN MAHER

RocRunna1Hip hop has a new home right here in Rockland County. The Roc Runna Radio Show, broadcast over the Internet every Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m., is Rockland’s newest Hip hop-based radio show.

The Roc Runna Radio Show showcases new local and international artists and musicians, such as Adamental, an up-and-coming Canadian artist. The show is hosted by DJ Anthony Downey and his engineer and partner, Eric Sullivan, known on air as “Precise” and “Big Vegg,” who founded the show a little over a year ago.

Besides the beats, The Roc Runna Radio Show is “positive, informing, and entertaining,” says Downey. Every show covers world news, local news, and an awareness segment that covers topics such as texting and driving. A segment they did recently on drugs reached over 9,000 listeners.

Based at S&S Pro Sound Studio in Haverstraw, The Roc Runna Radio Show is very connected to the Rockland community. Each week, a career segment covers all the current employment opportunities in Rockland, and the show publicizes Rockland businesses, events, and charities. Downey and Sullivan, both Rockland County residents themselves, realize the importance of the community connection. “We are very supportive of the [Rockland] community,” says Downey. “We enjoy giving listeners two hours out of the week to unwind and get caught up on current events.
