I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Summer Stress: Slow Down and Cool Down skynICELAND and PrettyConnected beauty & fashion blogger event this evening at Henri Bendel New York on 5th Avenue. A BIG thank you to a friend of mine for inviting me to explore this extremely interesting and inspiring brand, skyn ICELAND ‘Solutions for Stressed Skin.’ It appears to be “the only skin care line designed to treat the effects of stress on the skin” and judging from the background story & mission in creating the brand, the Founder and President, Sarah Kugelman, knows all too well the damage and severe side effects stress can have on the skin. In fact, it is the exact reason she developed the brand – to find a solution that would treat stressed skin and improve hydration & the overall health and well-being of the skin. As I always say, when your skin looks good, you feel good and when you feel good, people take note of your confidence – and there’s nothing more attractive & beautiful than that!

I was immediately greeted by two lovely skynICELAND-ers that gave me a brief overview of the evening festivities (mani station, gluten-free cupcakes galore, veggie juice bar etc) – the usual I was so happy & excited to be there, that I immediately began making the rounds. I first walked up to the booth where both Kaked NYC gluten-free cupcakes & Liquiteria veggie/fruit juice lived. I was assured by those behind the booth that the ‘all greens with apple’ juice was delicious & to NOT be afraid of drinking something that green in color. They were RIGHT! It was so yummy! I’ve never ever tried a veggie juice that genuinely tasted great and left me wanting more. I think I know where I am going for my next juice cleanse – Liquiteria!

Next, I was off to check out my skyn stress level by placing a little nifty device underneath my tongue for 30 seconds & then this device is slipped into a machine to determine my stress number. If you ask me, it’s off the charts (as all of us busy little bees are always running around!) however, according to the skyn stress test that has the capability to determine levels of stress based on enzymes secreted from our salivary glands, I was only a 40 out of 100! Not too shabby! I was happy to hear the good news & see my personal number on the stress board more toward the lower end! To improve these results even more, it looks like I’ll need to start using skyn ICELAND products to decrease my skin stress. Yay!

Moving right along throughout the night, I signed up for a quick mani at the Spanail station. I was politely greeted by the manicurist and was able to choose from many Butter London nail colors. I happen to go with the turquoise sparkly number and I am completely content with my choice! The mani didn’t take long and I got to experience yet another brand that I had not known about before! I love the texture and feel of the Butter London polish. I am keeping those positive vibes floating and hope that it’s long lasting (aka more than 2 days without chipping!).

An obvious favorite at the event was the ‘Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gel’ Eye Clinic Station. I hopped into the chair and threw on these little nuggety eye masks for approximately 10 minutes. While waiting for my under eye transformation, I was given some information on the product by those that work at skyn ICELAND. The masks were introduced as a de-puffer, soother and firming product that would visibly improve the look and feel of the skin underneath my eyes. Well, they were right! My baby blues were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed peepers The hydrolyzed elastin (helps to restore tone and firmness), the Acetyl hexapeptide (helps in reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles) and the Ginkgo biloba leaf extract (dilates blood vessels to improve blood flow & reduce puffiness) are a powerful trio indeed. Recommended usage is once per week or whenever your eye area needs a pick-me-up! For best results, it’s suggested to use the skyn ICELAND Icelandic Relief Eye Cream directly after removing the eye gels. The ’Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gel’ is $30 USD for 8 pairs of eye gels – a really wonderful & affordable price point, I might add!
