On June 4 at approximately 1 p.m. Jill Blau, 40, from Mahwah, NJ was arrested for alleged drugged driving.
Blau was observed driving a 1999 Infinity on Gerlach Drive, New City, at an extremely slow rate of speed. She was subsequently stopped and upon speaking with officers it was observed she had glassy eyes and slowed speech.
Blau was arrested and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters where she submitted to field sobriety tests, which she failed and a drug influence evaluation, results of which are pending.
A search of Blauโs vehicle uncovered several prescription drugs which she did not possess a prescription for. Blau was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court before Judge Ugell.
She was released on her own recognizance with a return date of July 8 to answer driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, both misdemeanors.
Blau is an employee at Link Elementary School in Clarkstown. On June 5 the district informed the community that a staff member had been arrested, but did not give her name out.
