ROCKLAND SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR COUNTY EXECUTIVE ARTS AWARDS

County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef, in partnership with the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR), is seeking nominations from the county’s arts community and the public for the 24th Annual County Executive Arts Awards, which will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at the Cultural Arts Center at Rockland Community College. In addition to honoring Rockland County’s artists, supporters of the arts and arts organizations, this year’s celebration will include the new “Ars Longa” Award, created by Vanderhoef to recognize a Rockland County artist whose body of work has stood the test of time and who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the County’s arts community.

This year’s awards ceremony will open the nomination process to all arts organizations and members of the Rockland County arts community, Vanderhoef said. Nominations for the County Executive Arts Awards and the Ars Longa Award will be accepted via email to [email protected] until July 15, 2013. A panel consisting of ACOR Board of Directors and other members of the Rockland County arts community will select winners from six categories, including Arts Educator, Literary Artist, Performing Artist, Visual Artist, Arts Organization and Patron of the Arts. The County Executive will choose the Ars Longa honoree.
