Jeffrey Freidberg’s popular Bossy Frog Band, which plays about 200 shows a year to children’s audiences in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, will be having an album release party featuring over 40 area musicians next month. Friedberh, a musical therapist, said his new album brings 15 all-time favorite children’s songs relevant for today’s families, “reflecting the multicultural makeup” of the community in which our children are growing up.
The album to be released Friday, August 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Nyack Center at 58 Depew Avenue in Nyack includes “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and other all time favorites performed by Rockand County musicians including Jon Pousette-Dart, Steven Bernstein, Mayra Casales, The Upsouth Twisters, Big Jim Wheeler, Lynn Stein, John Hart, Adam Falcon, Franke D. Sean Flemming, Michael Mark, Peter Bannon, Mark Attebery, Yvette McLarty, The Bossy Frog Band, Chiku Awali, Alice Leon and more.
The album was recorded at OK Records in Nyack. Performing at the CD release party, which is free, will be Pousette-Dart, Steven Roues from the Upsouth Twisters, The Bossy Frog Band, Michael Mark and more. Friedberg, who started out as a saxaphonist playing on Cruise ships in the Bahamas, got a masters in music therapy and practiced as a music therapist for many years.
He said he will start up classes at the Palisades Mall soon in which parents can enroll children from 18 months to 6-years-old. Information at bossyfrogband.com. Friedberg tells the Rockland County Times music therapy helps children socially with motor skill development and makes them happier and also serves to help them calm down.
