When you hear someone say to you ”Wow, you look so pretty!” or when you’re complimenting a friend letting them know how “pretty” they look today, you are most likely commenting on their outer appearance – the EXTERIOR. It is the first thing we notice when speaking to someone, walking past someone, or even inconspicuously ‘people watching’ from afar (come on, we all do it!). It’s what we form initial opinions & first impressions on. It is unfortunate, yet reality. Don’t get me wrong, I am obsessed with makeup and all things beauty that contribute to improving & maintaining how I look on the outside. However, I never neglect the work that’s needed to enrich my soul & inner beauty.

Listening to others, helping someone in need, being kind & considerate to all, remaining honest, loyal and true to yourself, and lending your time to a cause that you feel passionately about are all excellent ways to improve your interior. Practicing these things regularly and whole-heartedly can only add to your inner beauty, which is something I’m fairly certain we all would like to achieve. I’ve learned an important lesson recently on all of this, and am happy to say that the cultivation and constant belief that beauty runs much deeper than my favorite makeup products, is the reason why I’ve been able to come out on top of a very trivial situation. Remaining true to ME and always being cognizant of how I respond to such difficult times is proof that my inner strength and beauty is powerful enough to rise above it. I also strongly believe in karma. It doesn’t matter who is actively watching you or keeping tabs on you, it is in the moments where you a) know no one is watching or b) think no one is watching that your actions and true self shine through. If you practice loyalty and honesty at all times, then it doesn’t matter what situation you find yourself in – you’ll always make the right choice. You ‘pay it forward’ in a way, and somewhere, down the road, when you least expect it, your honest actions will be rewarded in some capacity – I truly believe this! Your outer beauty should most certainly match your inner beauty. In fact, your interior should be far & above richer than what’s seen on the outside. The soul determines your beauty factor. From this point forward, let’s all make an effort to promise that when we say someone is ‘pretty’ or ‘beautiful,’ we are really referring to their inner beauty, not their outer shell 🙂

I strongly believe inner beauty comes “…from within.” I am so passionate about this logic, that I have this exact phrase tattooed on my inner wrists. It’s a reminder to me everyday that no matter how I feel about myself or about the day (good or bad), that all of those thoughts and feelings come from within me – the COURAGE to overcome a setback, the LOVE I show myself and others, the STRENGTH to push through obstacles, or the HAPPINESS that keeps me shining & smiling throughout the day. All of these things are possible for all of us, as long as you think it, believe it & eventually, achieve it.
