A line of thunderstorms Thursday evening was especially harsh on North Rockland, causing a spate of damage from Hoyer’s Ice Cream Shop in West Haverstraw to Holt Dr., Hoke Dr. and the Aldi/Rite-Aid shopping center in Stony Point.
Trees were uprooted, at least two homes had roofs ripped off and Frances Hoyer of the ice cream family woke up from a nap with a large tree almost falling in his lap. A few inches over and “I’d six feet under,” Hoyer said.
