David Fried to address the dangers of illegal housing: County Executive candidate is joined by first responders and concerned public officials. 

Illegal apartments are a major public health hazard and safety risk in all of Rockland’s towns and villages. They’re potential death traps, as many the illegally subdivided units have inadequate exits, lack proper windows and ventilation, are improperly constructed, and additional apartments put too much burden on taxed electrical systems, which increases the risk of fire. Not only are these apartments hazardous to those who occupy them, they risk the lives of our volunteer firefighters, police officers, and ambulance corps.
