Timothy P. Cawley, the senior vice president of Central Operations at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., has been named president and chief executive officer of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) effective December 1, 2013.
Cawley succeeds John McAvoy, who served as O&R’s president and chief executive officer for a year and was today named president and chief executive officer of Con Edison, Inc. to succeed Kevin Burke. Burke will retire as president and CEO on December 31 and will remain the non-executive chairman of the board for a transition period.
As senior vice president of Central Operations, Cawley has responsibilities for planning, design, operations and maintenance of electric generation, transmission and substations systems, the generation and distribution of the steam system and construction activities for the company.
Cawley has served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility since joining Con Edison in 1987 including vice president of Substation Operations, vice president of Bronx and Westchester Electric Operations, general manager of Transmission Operations and previously at O&R, director of Gas Operations.
Cawley holds an MBA from New York University and a BS in electrical engineering from Union College.
