Supervisor’s Walk – September 28, 9amย 

Event: The Supervisor’s Walk

Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013

Time: 9am to 1pm

Location: Rockland Lake State Park, North Parking Lot #1

 

Join the Supervisor for a hike on the Long Path or take a nice stroll around Rockland Lake. ย Come out and enjoy the outdoors and experience nature first hand. ย Narrated tours and scenic views of the Hudson River. ย All levels of hiking available. ย No fee.

  • 1 hour hike on the short Long Path overlooking the Hudson River 1.7 miles (moderate hike-short steep hike)
  • 4 hour hike on the Long Path approximately 6 miles (difficult hike – long hike over steep, rocky terrain)ย bring water and lunch
  • 1 hour hike around Rockland Lake 3.2 miles (easy hike – paved walk, good for strollers)

The Supervisor’s Walk is associated with the Hudson River Valley Ramble; a month of landscape walks, hiking, kayaking, and biking adventures throughout the Hudson Valley.

 

T-shirts, water and fruit available before the hike begins.

 
Family Fun Day – September 28

Event: Family Fun Day to Benefit American Cancer Society

Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013

Time: 2pm to dusk

Location: Germonds Park, 185 Germonds Road, West Nyack

 

Co-sponsored with the Carton Family

 

$5 per child for all activities, adults are free

Activities include:

Relay races, bounce houses, face painting, sporting games, mini golf, music and more. Food will be available for purchase.

 

Paper lanterns are available for a $10 donation and will be released at dusk in honor or memory of a loved one.

National Hunting and Fishing Day – September 28

Event: National Hunting and Fishing Day

Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013

Time: 9am to 3pm

Location: Congers Lake Memorial Park, 6 Gilchrest Drive, Congers

 

Co-sponsored with the United Sportsmen Association of Rockland

 

Activities include:

Fishing for fun, fly fishing demonstrations, archery demonstrations, wilderness survival, make your own Cane Fishing Pole, Meet the Hunting dogs, Outdoor Foraging and more.

Fishing equipment available to use Courtesy of NYSDEC

No fishing license needed to fish Congers Lake during this event.

 
Italian Festival – September 29

Event: 7th Annual Italian Festival

Date: Sunday, September 29, 2013

Location: Congers Station Park, Burnside Avenue, Congers

Free Paper Shredding Day – October 5

Event: Free Paper Shredding Day for Clarkstown residents

Date: Saturday, October 5, 2013

Time: 9am to 1pm (or until the truck is full)

Location: Town Hall Parking Lot, 10 Maple Avenue, New City

 

Proof of residency is required. Limited to three small boxes or equivalent to two Town recycling bins.

 

Town Clerk Extended Office Hours

As a further convenience to residents, Town Clerk Justin Sweet’s office will be open during the shredding event. ย All services, including marriage licensing, hunting and fishing license sales, dog licensing, free notary services and issuance of handicapped parking tags will be available.
