Four Days of Community Focused Activities, October 10-13

NANUET, NY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2013 – After many months of planning, construction and putting the finishing touches in place, Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG), the world’s leading retail real estate company, announced today that The Shops at Nanuet will officially unveil its new, 750,000 square foot fashion forward, open-air center and celebrate its multi-million dollar redevelopment with the community. Starting with a ribbon cutting and flag ceremony the morning of Thursday, October 10, the four day celebration will offer non-stop action, including live music, prize-an-hour giveaways, entertainment for people of all ages, great food and drink, fantastic shopping among dozens of new stores, many exclusive to the Rockland County area, and much, much more through the evening of Sunday, October 13.

“After all of our hard work in getting The Shops at Nanuet ready for this special occasion we are very excited about the incredible lineup planned for our grand opening weekend,” said Ryan Hidalgo, The Shops at Nanuet general manager. “The special four day celebration promises something for everyone and serves as a thank you to our loyal customers for their patience and continued interest. We look forward to reclaiming our position as the premier shopping destination in the Rockland County region.”

Anchored by Macy’s and Sears, which remained open throughout the 18-month redevelopment project, The “new” Shops at Nanuet will feature 50 specialty stores along with junior anchors Fairway Market, Regal Cinemas and 24-Hour Fitness. Almost half are new-to-market retailers, including the three junior anchors, along with such names as Coach, lululemon athletica, Michael Kors, J. Crew, Vera Bradley, J. Jill, Sur La Table, Jos. A. Bank, Brighton Collectibles, Soma Intimates, Lovesac, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics and more.

We’ve created a new destination for the public that combines shopping, entertainment, dining and fitness all in a main street setting that’s both comfortable and inviting,” Hidalgo said.  “It’s unlike anything found in Rockland County and beyond and is best experienced by seeing it firsthand.”

Starting each morning of the grand opening, Thursday through Sunday, the first 500 shoppers to register will receive a special gift as part of the Simon Premium Giveaway. In addition, hourly giveaways during the four day celebration include gift cards donated by mall retailers such as Macy’s, J. Jill, The Limited, Tiara Jewelers, Gap, Soma Intimates, Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar, CUPS Frozen Yogurt and others.  One lucky shopper will even have a chance to win a $1,000 Simon Giftcard®.

At various locations throughout the property Entertainment Zones featuring caricature artists, stilt walkers, henna tattooists, jugglers, magicians, balloon animal makers, face painters and even an actual fire eater will amuse and delight.  Musical performances, featuring local artists bringing a wide variety of pleasing sounds will fill the air as well.

For those looking to recharge with some great food and drink, a visit to the Food Truck Court will do the trick.  There, hungry shoppers will find a wide assortment of dining options in a unique and trendy environment from among Thai Elephant, French Quarter, Incrediballs, Taqueria Autentica, Dark Side of the Moo and Waffle de Lys.
