APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR ANNUAL MOCK TRIAL TOURNAMENT

The New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Citizenship Education and the New York Bar Foundation, in conjunction with the Rockland County Bar Association/Law-Related Education Program, are pleased to announce that New York’s Annual High School Mock Trial Tournament for senior high school students (grades 9-12) will be held this winter. General coordination of the activities is being provided by the State Bar’s Youth and Citizenship Program, which is co-sponsored by the New York State Education Department.

Senior High School Students in the Rockland County area that wish to participate in the contest may enter a team of at least eight students, headed by one or more teacher-coaches. Other students can participate by serving as back ups to members of the school’s first team. Junior high school students (grade 8 or below) will not be eligible for this year’s tournament.

On Monday, December 10, at 5 p.m. at the Bar Association offices, 337 North Main Street, Suite 1, New City, there will be an orientation session for teacher-coaches. This meeting will feature a briefing on contest rules and procedures. Attendance at the orientation is required.
