APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR ANNUAL MOCK TRIAL TOURNAMENT

The New York State Bar Associationโ€™s Committee on Citizenship Education and the New York Bar Foundation, in conjunction with the Rockland County Bar Association/Law-Related Education Program, are pleased to announce that New Yorkโ€™s Annual High School Mock Trial Tournament for senior high school students (grades 9-12) will be held this winter. General coordination of the activities is being provided by the State Barโ€™s Youth and Citizenship Program, which is co-sponsored by the New York State Education Department.

Senior High School Students in the Rockland County area that wish to participate in the contest may enter a team of at least eight students, headed by one or more teacher-coaches. Other students can participate by serving as back ups to members of the schoolโ€™s first team. Junior high school students (grade 8 or below) will not be eligible for this yearโ€™s tournament.

On Monday, December 10, at 5 p.m. at the Bar Association offices, 337 North Main Street, Suite 1, New City, there will be an orientation session for teacher-coaches. This meeting will feature a briefing on contest rules and procedures. Attendance at the orientation is required.
