Claire Odell Schaper, Worthy Matron, representing the members of Stony Point Chapter #540 O.E.S. presented a $800 check to Homes for Heroes in the Memory of Right Worthy Sister Helen Thiele Gillikin. Helen’s dedicated actions, contributions and devotion to veterans prompted Chapter members to raffle a handmade quilt in her honor following her passing. Known as “The Apron Lady,” Helen had diligently sewed and sold aprons with all proceeds donated to her “Boys” the veterans. Material in the quilt holds special memories. After her passing the family discovered unused “apron” material. The quilt was crafted from this material that Helen used to make her famous “Aprons.”
