SHIELDS ASCENDANT

Retired police are making a big impact in Rockland County politics these days. Photographed here at the most recent meeting of the Rockland County Shields, an organization for retired or active police officers, are members County Executive-elect Ed Day (l) and Stony Point Councilman-elect Jim Monaghan (r). In the center is Stony Pointer John Pinto, the current president of the Rockland County Shields. Both Day and Monaghan are former NYPD 34 Precinct officers.
