UnitedHealthcare and Bon Secours Extend Contract to January 31, 2014

SUFFERN, NY (December 31, 2013) โ€“ Bon Secours Charity Health System announced progress in negotiations with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Oxford. Negotiations have been underway for more than 6 months and in order to allow time to complete those discussions the termination date of the current contracts have been extended until January 31, 2014.

โ€œWe have reached agreement with UHC on the principal terms of an agreement,โ€ said Mary Leahy, M.D., CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System. โ€œWe are continuing to work through the details of the contract and this extension will allow us time to reach a final agreement.โ€

The extension will allow patients to continue to receive services through their preferred providers – Bon Secours Medical Group, Good Samaritan Hospital, Bon Secours Community Hospital and St. Anthony Community Hospital.

โ€œWe fully expect to remain within the UHC network,โ€ Dr. Leahy said. โ€œIt is very important that our patients care is not interrupted and that they continue to have the best medical care in the area.โ€
