Traffic Violation Leads to Drug Arrests on Thruway

Police: Cocaine, marijuana found in car

Screen Shot 2013-12-31 at 8.48.14 PMWEST NYACK – A traffic violation on the New York State Thruway Wednesday led to the arrest of two of three men in the car, according to State Police.

A Subaru Outback driven by Daniel J. Angelo, 24, of Poughkeepsie was stopped on the northbound side of the Thruway in Clarkstown on Monday. Police said a trooper could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the Subaru and called a State Police K-9 unit for assistance.

As a result of the investigation, police said passenger Jarad C. Delano, 24, of White Plains was found with 2 grams of cocaine and 4 grams of marijuana. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, an unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Police said Angelo was found with 1 gram of marijuana and was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Both many were later released pending a hearing in Clarkstown Town Court in New City. The second passenger in the car was not charged.
