FROM KRB
Once again this year you can help friends and neighbors remove tons of litter from our streets, parks and waterways during Keep Rockland Beautifulโs Great American Cleanup Campaign. In 2013, over 3,000 volunteers from around the county made it possible for all of us to enjoy a cleaner, greener Rockland. Itโs also an excellent teaching moment for children to learn more about the world around them and earn community service hours.
Volunteers interested in participating may schedule a cleanup for any day in April and May. Or they can join up with one of KRBโs scheduled Community Cleanup Events. These are special days where neighbors gather to pick up supplies, enjoy refreshments and exchange ideas. The Community Cleanup Events currently scheduled for 2014 include:
Blauvelt โ Sun, April 27
Congers โ Sat, April 26
Haverstraw โ Sun, April 27
Montebello โ Sat, April 12
Nanuet โ Sat, April 5
New City โ Sat, April 5 (Kick-Off Event)
Nyack โ Sat, April 26
Pearl River โ Sat, April 26
Stony Point โ Sat, April 12
Suffern โ Sat, April 26
W. Haverstraw โ Sun, April 27
The season kicks off with the first Community Cleanup, this year in New City. The winner of the KRB t-shirt design contest will be revealed along with the first discovery of Cleanup KiRBy, a gnome who serves as the campaignโs mascot. Anyone who finds KiRBy in a littered site wins a prize.
