Free Tax Preparation at Walk-In Sites in Rockland County

BY BARRY WARNER

DSCN5797Nanuet-The AARP Tax-Aide program provides free federal and state tax preparation help to people with low and moderate incomes from February 1 to April 15 at Walk-In sites throughout Rockland County. Special attention is given to individuals over age 60. It is important for taxpayers to bring last yearโ€™s returns and all of the documents needed to complete the forms. IRS-trained volunteer tax specialist Jan Chasson is helping two taxpayers obtain all the tax deductions and credits they are entitled to in order to e-file their returns.

Allan Goldberg, AARP site-coordinator said, โ€œThe Nanuet Library is also a Facilitated Assistance Site (FSA) for those taxpayers who wish to prepare their own tax returns with guidance from an IRS-certified volunteer. A computer will be available to e-file the federal and state returns plus the taxpayer will have access to interview-based software.โ€

No appointments are necessary at the Nanuet Library and returns are prepared on a first come, first serve basis on Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. For further information call (845) 623-4281
