NYACK – Nyack’s popularity as a setting for film and TV productions continues to be seen this week with two sites to be used for different projects.

On Friday, Old World Food Market on Route 59 is scheduled to be the setting for a web production that is part of a diabetes awareness effort.

Also on Friday, HBO/Warner Bros. returns to Nyack’s Memorial Park for more filming of the series “The Leftovers”

โ€œThe Leftovers,โ€ is a new 10-episode series starring Justin Theroux (โ€œWanderlustโ€) and Liv Tyler of โ€œThe Hobbitโ€ that is scheduled to air in June 2014. The dark, ominous fantasy revolves around a catastrophic event similar to the Rapture, when more than 100 people from the small, fictional suburban town of Mapleton disappear under mysterious circumstances. Those that remain, including Therouxโ€™s character, Kevin Garvey, the townโ€™s police chief, must rebuild their lives without their neighbors, all the while searching for an explanation for their sudden and disturbing absence.

“The Leftovers” did filming in Nyack in 2013, including a scene in which a statue was erected in Memorial Park.
