To the Editor,
At the recent interview sessions for the latest vacant school board seat for the Ramapo Central School District, the current board members expressed that they are a unit who votes as a team. The question was posed to each candidate that if they opposed the view of the board, would they be willing to vote as a united front in public?
My question is is this standard operating procedure in the RCSD?? School board members’ job is to represent their taxpaying constituents and to vote their conscience. Was rubber stamping the old guard’s mandates a requirement for the appointment? The community needs to know since three seats on the board are in play for the next election and the leadership so far has guided us into a financial abyss that even caught the attention of the NYS Comptroller.
Their “leadership” has cut programs and angered an entire community. I would ask this at the next BOE meeting but they tend to not respond to the community.
Sincerely,
Sam Kosanovich
