Good Samaritan supporters raised $260,000 at “A Kentucky Derby Party,” the medical center’s annual Spring Ball on March 21. Funds raised at the event have been directed to the Bobbi Lewis Cancer Program at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Each year at the ball, two honorees are recognized. The 2014 recipients were Dr. Sushil Bhardwaj, director of the Bobbi Lewis Cancer Program and the family of Nicholas Marangi. Dr. Bhardwaj received the Sister Joseph Rita Award for Medical Excellence. He has practiced medicine for four decades and has cared for patients at Good Samaritan for 22 years. The Marangis accepted the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Medal of Honor in memory of Nicholas, their father. Nicholas Marangi was active in the local philanthropic community. His family and their business, Action Carting Environmental Services, have been longstanding supporters of Good Samaritan.
A Kentucky Derby Party was held at The Rockleigh in Bergen County. Guests enjoyed Derby games, dining and entertainment.
